List of necessities for the castle

Hi Craftingaddict,

I overpacked too, I was only there for one night and released late the next afternoon, so I didn't need a lot of the stuff. But there are no guarantees, my doc told me I would be there 2 to 3 days when we first discussed the surgery.

I'm the kind of person who would rather be over prepared than under prepared, and I am quite particular about my clothing and toiletries. I packed a rolling luggage bag that was about medium size. I included two of my favorite pillows and my favorite nap blanket, as well as a gown that feels wonderful against my skin. I took everything you had listed plus deodorant, baby wipes, my headphones (which I did use for the tv, plugged in to the tv remote on my bed), a notepad and pen, cotton panties two sizes bigger than I usually wear, overnight maxi pads, eye mask for sleeping, ear plugs, a box of Kleenex and a roll of toilet paper (that stuff at the hospital is harsh!), change and singles and a twenty dollar bill, my cell phone and charger. I also recommend the heating pad AND a small fan if you have one, because my room got quite warm at times and even tho my husband could adjust the temp, it still wasn't cool enough for me sometimes.

And I didn't unpack immediately after I got home, well, I didn't unpack anyway, my husband did it for me, which was a good thing, because I was readmitted for two days within the week and needed my bag again. Not the norm, but it made life a lot easier.

Good luck with your surgery and see you on the post op boards!

((((HUGS))))

I think your list looks great and would only add the earplugs! They were a godsend to me...your list looked a lot like mine- and if you did 'overpack' it is really no big deal-just bring it back home! I would rather have the stuff there and not want it than want it and not have it...hugs and best wishes to you- everything will go fine and you will be on 'the other side' before you know it!!

I overpacked but kept one of the bags in the car. My husband brought in the bag with my absolute essentials so it would be there when I got to my room. The bag with my "luxuries"--was left in the car until I wanted it, although it turned out I didn't.

List of necessities for the castle

Today was crazy getting last minute stuff done. Meals are in the fridge. Laundry is done. Bed has clean sheets. "Breakfast A-Go-Go" is made to help with post-op constipation. Bag is packed. Kids' lunches are packed. House is spotless. You could eat off of my floors!!
Nerves are still bad. Everyone in the house was on edge today. I guess even teens feel stress of having Mom away!! I had a hard time sleeping last night, so I took the Gravol that the nurse from pre-op told me I could. Now, I am off to bed, hoping to get some sleep!
Best of luck to my surgery day sisters. May we all enjoy a successful surgery, and an eventful, and quick! recovery. See you all on the post-op boards!

Ooohhhh...........I sound so brave, but am shaking like a leaf I am so nervous........................
