October 7th is the big day!

Good Evening Ladies!
I am officially on the one week till surgery count down. I have waited so long for this surgery that now as it gets closer it is making me nervous. I have had 7 abdominal surgeries already so you would think this would be a cake walk for me. BUT I am having the most anxiety I have ever experienced in my life right now. Has anyone else felt that way? I kind of feel silly worrying so much about something that is supposed to help me be better.

Re: October 7th is the big day!

I have surgery in 2 days and this will be my 7th and I am feeling really anxious as well! I plan on asking for medicine to make me feel better before surgery.

Each time we go into surgery, the risks are there and each surgery is different. It's not silly to have these feelings! It's normal!!!! Good Luck!!

Re: October 7th is the big day!

I always feel silly when I have to have another surgery on my stomach because nobody I have ever know has had as many as I have lol. I spoke with my practitioner a few weeks ago and she gave me some anxiety medication that just does not seem to be helping. I go back to her tomorrow to try something else. It is strange because I know that this is a major surgery as I have to go about it via c section. But the surgery itself and the recovery is not so much what bothers me (don't get me wrong, it is driving me crazy too, but on a lower scale) its the idea of having to get on a hospital bed again, getting pricked again, smelling the hospital again.

I wish you a super speedy recovery. I know that with the more surgeries you have the harder recovery can be so I will keep you in my prayers. Be sure to get something pretty before you go in. Something that when you wake up you can look at that will make you smile. That is what I have done. Just a little pick me up. Please keep us posted on how things go. And thank you for the reassurance. It is so nice to know that I am not alone.

Re: October 7th is the big day!

I'll keep updating as I recover! I have purchased new pajama pants that are comfy! I am only scheduled to stay "23 hours" as an outpatient, but you're right! I hate the hospital smell. I'm used to the pricks as I get them quite often due to my immune system issues. I just hope my nurse can get the vein on the first try without bruising me.

Re: October 7th is the big day!

We are going to have our surgery on the same day so we can support each other during our recovery. I just got my last period and boy did it solidify why I'm having this done. The pain is insane I can't wait to say good bye to tampons!!
