22 days post hysterectomy - undissolved stitch poking through skin
As the title says I'm 3 weeks post op and have the pointy bit of an undissolved stitch poking out of my incision. It's right in a fold so it's stabbing me. I've been putting polysporin on it to reduce the pain (it picks and is burning a little) and that has antibiotics in it but the area is looking a little angry.
I know I'm going to be going to the hospital about it, I'm too paranoid to deal with it myself. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen and what was done about it. The dr told me if there was anything at all to go to the ER. It's just that with the long weekend upon us I'm looking at 6-10 hour wait for what...a stitch?
Ugh. So tired of this one thing after another. Yesterday one of my veins that had an iv in it swelled up and had a 4" bruise appear. Warm compresses are helping with that.

Re: 22 days post hysterectomy - undissolved stitch poking through skin
Update: I went to the ER. The doctor said "I've seen hundreds of these, they're very common. It will work itself out on it's own as soon as the stitch dissolves on the inside. Nothing to worry about".
I told him it was very painful and asked him to trim it so it wasn't poking me anymore. He froze the area, made an incision in my incision to get a closer look and said it hadn't even started dissolving on it's own yet. So he trimmed it close to where it's tied and said it shouldn't bother me anymore. Said it is not infected, looks good actually but if the redness becomes the size of a quarter to go back to the ER because that's a sign of infection.
If I had tugged it, that would have been bad since it was still very much secured to what it's holding together.
In other news, my blood pressure is still high (146/101) and he told me to take that up with my GP when I see him next month (I was planning to anyway).
