be careful with numby belly!

I'm too many weeks to count from surgery and things are wonderful! My stomach still has a numb spot about the size of a baseball under my belly button. I've been worried about burning it on the stove, reaching for things in the cupboard above and thankfully I haven't done that....yet!

What I did though....we went to DH's sister's for a picnic and campfire and even though it didn't feel that hot I still have a 3rd degree burn on my stomach. I didn't even realize it when it happened because of the numb belly. Be careful around

You Can't Be Serious

You have got to be kidding. This is the best entry yet. I can't decide if it is for real or a joke, but I'm leaning towards the latter. No hard feelins :-)

Would you like me to take a picture of the half dollar sized blister on my stomach? It's definitely NOT a joke.

(((Elle68))),

I am so sorry you burned yourself so badly. Thanks for sharing your injury to help others realize the seriousness of numbness.

I hope your tummy heals quickly, and you get all the feeling back in your tummy soon. It can take a while for those nerves to heal and connect again.

s,
Kay

be careful with numby belly!

Thanks Kay! I worried about the stove but I didn't even think about a campfire. It just didn't feel hot on my legs so I didn't even think about my stomach.

I'm going to the doctor today (not my favorite place!) and I'm not looking forward to telling him about this bonehead move!

I don't know how well the nerves will do this time around, I can't remember how long it was numb when I had my c-section but I don't think it was this long.

be careful with numby belly!

Elle,
Sorry this happened to you, but I can see how it could. I had an appy 20yrs ago and still have small area on my belly that is numb. I also had a numb spot on my breast for about 3yrs after a biopsy, but that went away.
Hope your burn heals well! LL

Thanks LL! These numb spots are the pits. At least the burn doesn't hurt though

My whole left side numb

Sorry to hear about your burn. I too worry around the stove and I did think about the campfire we had last week good thing I sat far back. The Dr tells me it could take a year or more for the numbness to go away and even then It may still be somewhat numb forever. Just something else to think about with all the things going wrong for me. I still have a much pain and some very sharp pains when i move on the left side. went to dr yesterday and got two really big shots in that spot for what she thinks is something to do with the stitches. But could also be pinched nerve or scar tissue. The shots were suppose to work right away which they did but one the numbness from the first shot went away i was back to pain. anyone else experiencing this kind of issue. Im now out of work till the 7th of Nov. may need another surgery from what the Dr says if these shots of steroids dont work.
