Operation in a couple months
Hello, My Operation Date is coming up in December and I am totally freaking out, I know i need this because i've been dealing with endo and uterine fibroids for 11 years, but i'm afraid of the aftermath.
I have a 16 year old daughter and with that come anxiety and fear. If I add menopause to that equation, well needless to say, She'll be MOVING OUT! How will I deal with all the emotions without driving her totally crazy.

Operation in a couple months
Pray a lot!!! My first hysterectomy was scheduled April 6th. Then was moved to August 21st and is now sceduled for September 21st. Talk about a lot of anxiety. The first surgery date I was completely FREAKED out....an emotional wreck. The second surgery date is wasn't as intense as the first...but still freaked out about it. Now with this one coming up in a week...I just can't wait to get it over with so I can get on with my life.

Operation in a couple months
Hi ladies,
It seems like so many people on here have surgery right away, I am glad to find some people that have to wait a bit.
I couldn't imagine having dates that got put off for so long.
CJ, right before Christmas, how are you gonna manage that? But then again, you have a 16 year old, its a little different than when she was younger. I have much younger ones, so trying to plan with the holidays coming up just adds more stress to things.
I wish you luck and maybe we can keep up with one another as you go through the process.
Good luck on the 21st GND.

Operation in a couple months
May I suggest you make your daughter your partner, not the enemy? Tell her what's going on, and that for awhile she gets to be the Mom. Explain to her that the fear and anxiety beforehand may make you a little crazy, and surgical menopause *can* also be a bit like throwing you back to adolescence. Who knows, she might get a kick out of knowing Mom's going to be hormonal too.
This could be a great life lesson for her, if you get her cooperation. She'll learn by being in charge of laundry, cleaning, cooking, and dishes. My daughters even signed me up for online bill paying and helped me pay the bills via the internet after they got to run errands in my car and drop off the deposits. They learned to budget, plan meals, and live with the frustrations of the "working housewife."
After the chores were done, we had "girl day" in my bedroom. I let them paint my nails and toes incredible colors, we put on facial masks, and discussed boys/men. They found out pretty quick Mom knew much more than they thought possible! LOL! Ever had your daughters read romance novels aloud? We took turns and screamed with laughter over the "juicy bits."
Think positive.

Thanks everyone for your support
I want to thank you all, Your support is much needed. I am the first of 9 girls in my family to take after my mother and require a hysterectomy and as they all think it's great and are a bit jealous of it, I am terrified. So thankyou again.
My daughter is extremely independant and helps out alot already so i'm sure i can count on her for more assistance, The girls night in my bedroom sounds absolutely fantastic and i look forward to sharing that time with her.
I think I will include her in some of my appointments that are coming up, since i also have fibromyalgia and thyroiditis, she may find comfort in knowing what it's all about and what will happen to me in the future.
I know she worries about me, so we can both be comforted by the fact that she is informed and hopefully we can both live harmoniously.
Thanks again!
Christine
