Bowel Prep?

Hi Cheryl!

If your doctor didn't order a bowel prep for you, then he/she doesn't want you to do it. Lucky you!

I'm sending positive thoughts your way for a successful surgery and uneventful recovery!

Bowel Prep?

Your Doc may not be the one to tell you about it. When I went in for my pre-op blood work, the nurses there told me allll about it... UGH.... Tonigh was my second enema. Still have one more to go tomorrow morning before surgery... ARGGHHHh

Bowel Prep?

I have to go to my DRs on monday just to pick up my prescriptions for surgery and bowel prep stuff right before my preop at the hospital. I have already had my preop with my DR but for some reason he is having me come back just for the bowel prep stuff. Apparently my bowel prep stuff is the same they use for colonoscopys YUK! From reading the diffrent post here, mostly all of us are having diffrent bowels preps or none at all. So dont worry maybe you will find out later on if you need it. If you dont then YOU ARE SO LUCKY!

Bowel Prep?

No bowel prep for me. I even asked my pre-op nurse and she said "nope".

Bowel Prep?

I didn't have one either ... I probably pooped on the operation table LOL. I was allready constipated because of the med I was on before surgery. Probably why I was so bloated after operation. When I had my first baby In 1991 I had to have an enema and was shaved. By the time I had a second child in 1992 I didnt have to do any of that. it's funny how change so fast.

Bowel Prep?

Usually they only want you to bowel prep if they are worried about nicking your intestines or bowel when removing scar tissue. I had to do it. Thank god. My surgery took an extra hour do to the large amount of scar tissue on my small intestines. If you are really worried about it call your doctor and talk to his nurse. Good luck

Bowel Prep?

I had my pre-admit yesterday, and the nurse there told me about the bowel prep. I was so hoping that I wouldn't have to do it, but i'm not that lucky......have to start it at 2 pm the day before my surgery. I have to remember though, to ask the doc about how to do it because the directions on the box (sodium Phospha) say to use only 3 tsp in a glass of water.....so not sure if I have to use more than that or not. Guess I'll find out when I go for my pre-op with my family doc.
