10 days post op

My TAH is tentatively scheduled for August 25th. My question is my sister and I were to have a bridal shower for my niece on Sept. 5th. Naturally, it will be at my sister's house (only 2 miles from me). Surely, I won't have any problems being there will I? I mean all I will do is sit around.....and if I am a good girl I can have a small 'outing' by then. I plan to maybe fix a few 'appetizers' with the help of my DH and/or DD to 'do my part', but that should be ok, shouldn't it?
Gosh, the surgery in itself doesn't concern me at all....it is everything I am used to doing for others and all that I NEED to do this time of year, that will have to be put on hold. :hair:
Well, to all and thanks for listening.
Any replies wold be appreciated.

10 days post op

Hi, I personally would not have been able to do that at 10 days post op. I was still walking and moving slowly by then. Sitting for long periods of time was still painful.

This is something that I think you should discuss with your dr and follow his/her suggestions. This is a major surgery and you have only one chance to heal properly. It's your time to learn to sit back and let others "do" for you. I know that that doesn't come easily for some of us but please do try.

Best wishes.

10 days post op

I got out of the hospital on Sat. and Sun was Father's day and my entire family came to my house and I was able to visist with people. I did take it extremely easy. I think I had swelly belly the next week but that probably would have happened anyway. I think you should wait and see how you feel. I probably could have gone but I would not stay for more than 2 hours. Also make sure someone else makes the goodies you are going to take. I was 10 day post op and went to Lowe's with DH. He pushed me in a wheel chair cart. We were not goine for more than 1 and 1/2 hours and I slept for 3 hours when I got home. I welcomed the outing but just don't over do it. You will be able to tell more of course once you are home from surgery.
