I'm back-I think

Been awhile, after going through the whole scheduling nightmare at Christmas and realizing the surgery just wasn't going to get done in time, NEVER getting my results from my urodynamics (until yesterday from my gyn), attempting to see another gyn for a second opinion and consequently running out in terror when the nurse used the word "retractor", and bleeding pretty much nonstop from December through January. Anyhoo, got a call from my original gyn (who I had gotten tee'd off at) a couple of weeks ago-time for the yearly exam. Fine. Terrified, I bit the bullet, swallowed some extra muscle relaxers and went in yesterday. Blood pressure was off the charts from fear but the moment he walked in, despite all the hell he put me through, I just kinda collapsed. He even remembered why I hadn't gotten the surgery done, how upset I had been, etc. Went through the exam-pretty painful which normally doesn't happen and then was more than happy to give me copies of my uro test-turns out NO, I prolly don't need the bladder repair-just some nice little bladder pills, which in less than 24 hours, have already helped. Asked me if I still wanted the surgery (um, do birds fly?) and then said, as I'm in tears, "Let's schedule you for about a month from now, just to make sure the bladder meds work". Only bad thing, about a month from now is around my birthday and my daughter's and she's flying in with her hubby for that and Easter weekend so I may put if off for another week after that. I was thinking I could manage 10 days prior to her arrival, but with everything else on my plate-taxes, school, etc, Easter dinner, etc. I think I will be pushing it. Still planning on the total abdominal, i.e. slice and dice and julienne strip-take everything PLEASE. He was such a sweetie to me. I guess me turning into a blubbering moron finally got to him since I'm usually the total comedienne. Just don't have it in me anymore as the pain never goes away, I never know when I'm gonna start or stop, how heavy it may or may not be. Just get rid of the **** thing.

So, my thinking on waiting a week after Easter weekend, does that sound good to ya'll?

You don't want to feel like you have to do it all after surgery, so make sure you pick a time that you can relax and recover afterwards. I had the option of going 2 weeks earlier, but there is just too much stuff going on. I need no distractions, and my husband also needs no distractions as he will be single-parenting the kids while I sleep it off. On the other hand, maybe it would be nice to have your daughter there during your recovery period. And you know, Easter happens every year, maybe you can just go out this year? Does your daughter cook? If she does, let her handle the meal, and if she doesn't, it would be one of those funny "first Thanksgiving meal" moments that you could tease her about forever. Hehehe! Let us know what you decide- I'm going April 9 (day after Easter).

My daughter would only be here for easter weekend and the last time she helped cook a holiday meal she spilled turkey grease on the floor and didn't quite clean it all up. Which meant of course I slipped and fell, broke 2 vertebrae in my back and torn the cartilage in my left knee-again. So we try to, um, keep her kitchen duties to a minimum.
Doctor called back YESTERDAY-I couldn't believe it was before Friday like he said. I'm scheduled for the 16th at 8:00 am, and my pre-op consult with him (my second, lol) on the 12th. So I guess now the wheels are in motion...........time to read up on everything posted here AGAIN and get my ducks in a row.
