Yeast in Bowel? Could this be apart of constapation?
I feel for anyone who is having trouble with normal bowel moments. I never thought I be dealing with this.
I need HELP...
I had my surgery way back on August 31st and from that day until now I have a bout with constapation. Every week it gets worst. I can't seem to find out why.
I have had terrible yeast infections since my surgery... and seem to still have a discharge. Not to be gross, I put my finger just inside my rectum and noticed a white jelly clear discharge that is pasty and sticky. I been using stool softner with lax and high fiber in my diet.
I had to have a fleet on Monday, and since today is Thursday after I digest my turkey dinner that I have had already, I will have another Fleet. I can't believe the pressure in my belly. I have a dr appointment with my regular dr on Monday.
Anyone go through something like this? What has happened to me? Could I have yeast in my bowel? If I do would that stop and slow down my bowel moments and make them hard and or pastey.
HELP

Yeast in Bowel? Could this be apart of constapation?
Tami,
I don't know if yeast in your bowel would cause that or not. I do think your on the track though seeing your doc.
It does sound like your system is out of balance. I don't know how yogurt would affect your constipation.....but eating yogurt is supposed to help with the balance of our "healthy" normal yeast in our digestive tract. Also AZO sells a supplement for "yeast" problems too. I've been taking it since I took that yeast infection when I had that UTI. And so far I haven't taken another infection. It's called AZO Yeast......I found it at WalMart with the Monistat type products.
Also this will bump you up.......since no one else has responded.
love ya,
Theresa

Yeast in Bowel? Could this be apart of constapation?
Peachprinceton,
I take the AZO Yeast like TexasTea. It hasn't stopped my yeast infections but it sure has slowed them down and made them not as bad. I finally got rid of one, and then yesterday it showed back up. But I have seen an improvement.
Yeast Overgrowth in the gut system can cause all sorts of problems, including what you are experiencing. But no gurantee that is what it is. It could also be Bacterial Overgrowth.
Yeast Overgrowth in the gut is usually treated with a series of oral diflucan pills. Bacterial Overgrowth is usually treated with abx, IV if really severe, otherwise orally. Flagyl is a common one for the Bact. Overgrowth. If you have stool sitting in your system for too long without moving, it can cause both the yeast overgrowth and the bacterial overgrowth (though rarely both at the same time).
Definetly see your doctor. They will probably have you do a stool sample for testing. That should shed some light on the problem.
Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

I'd suggest seeing a Gastrointerologist. I have one for treatment of my Crohns...and belong to a a bowel list that may be able to help you out.
There are other stool softners one can get that work much better than your standard Colace. My doctor [GI] offered me one when I was having issues with constipation post surgery.
Talk to your regular doc about referring you to a GI in your area. You do need help, this has gone on long enough!

Yeast in Bowel? Could this be apart of constapation?
O0ooh Thank You Thank you.
I am going to copy and paste these notes from you all, and on Monday show these to my reg. Dr. She's wonderful!!! I know she will work with me on finding the cause and if she can't she will refer me to someone who can.
nikkinet: Thank you for all that information. I was trying to read all I can on bowel possible problems, with no luck.
You all have no real idea how much comfort you have giving me.

Yeast in Bowel? Could this be apart of constapation?
I am a vegetarian and eat only whole grains. I had my hyst on 10-21-05 and by 10-26 I was constipated for the first time in my life. I am on a stool softener, but I have also added bran fiber to all my baking, and I eat an extra serving of dried fruit. I also noticed that with my decrease appetite, I was not drinking as much, so I increased my water intake and things are moving along back to normal. I also got an infection from the tube during the surgery and have to take a fungal med because I have thrush in my mouth and also a yeast infection-same fungus says the dr- good luck with yours.

Yeast in Bowel? Could this be apart of constapation?
Well.... I thought I do my follow up on seeing my dr.
I went to my dr appointment yesterday.
She is my regular dr and a fellow dr who has had a hysterectomy just like mine as well.
First...she can't understand the fever.
She did blood work to find out why that is, and a stool sample. I explained the yeast I found on my stool, and the major troubles to even go. If I'm lucky I will have a bowel movement once every 3 days that's the 3inchs long.
Yesterday after I saw her she gave me a yeast med, and also told me to do two Fleet's and mineral oil.
The second Fleet showed the yeast in large amounts. I was shocked.
No this hasn't been tested..
but I put my money on it that it's what it is. I'll have to wait to hear to be truly sure.
I Can't wait to hear what the stool test shows and I'm so0oo relieved that my reg dr is going to find out what is what for all s he can.
I'll let you know what my real results are. I couldn't eat at all yesterday...since my lunch from Sunday was still in my stomach.
Every time I drank water I would be ill. I was bringing up my lunch (I know it was my lunch from then since there was celery in it. and that made me more nervous.
The dr said I was full from my tummy to my........ bummy.
I'll keep in touch.
