Dizziness (from estrogen deficiency) post-op

Hi, Ladies. My surgeon tells me that the dizziness I've felt on-and-off since surgery 12 days ago has nothing to do with the surgery itself. As I was dizzy while on Tamoxifen (BC 2008), she thinks it's the way my body responds to loss of estrogen. Has anyone experienced this and has anyone found something that helps? Caffeine *might* take the edge off it, but not significantly. Would love some input as it makes me feel unstable, particularly when moving around. Thanks!

Re: Dizziness (from estrogen deficiency) post-op

I am curious to see the responses on this issue. I have had severe dizziness especially on standing but sometimes just walking around that has gotten worse the last few days. I am not taking the pain meds which I had been blaming previously for the dizziness. I sit down when I feel the dizziness which starts with a ringing in my ears and a feeling of everything moving farther away. I know to sit down or I will pass out but would like for these spells to stop.

I can't see that they will be a good thing once I am driving regularly or trying to return to work in a couple of weeks. I have both of my ovaries still but maybe they are sleeping. I never heard of dizzy spells in relation to estrogen loss before.

Re: Dizziness (from estrogen deficiency) post-op

Good question. I came on to pose a similar question about dizziness. I have Meneires Disease which means I do have constant ringing in the ears & dizziness. It's been under control for some time but this past January & February the vertigo kicked up. Just wondering how much, if any, might be related to my being in the middle of menopause, then having the hysterectomy ~ LSH.

Your posts indicate it may be related post-op but I am now wondering about pre-op. Anyone else experience dizziness/vertigo pre-op? My 4 week post-op is Thur so I will ask then. Additionally, I made an appt with my otolaryngologist on May 3rd.

Beginning to feel ~~~really~~~ cooped up.

Re: Dizziness (from estrogen deficiency) post-op

The only time I had dizziness pre-op is when I hadn't eaten for awhile and my blood sugar got low. Maybe I'm not drinking enough water or something. If it continues, I will definitely address it with the doctor.

Re: Dizziness (from estrogen deficiency) post-op

I used to get lightheaded or dizzy in the first month or so, particularly when I stood up too quickly or walked around a lot. It has gradually become better. Could be blood loss from the surgery, low blood sugar, your body saying 'REST!' ? I don't know but it does it better.
On the other hand, if you actually faint, it might be an idea to call the doctor.
