Hello Ladies!
I wanted to report my first bm was today about 5:30 am, and although I had been nervous about its arrival, I had no need to be. It was completely painless. Here are all the things I ate after the surgery:
Wed: liquid diet in hospital
Thurs: french toast, bacon, grapes, peaches
Penne pasta with marinara, squash medley
Thursday evening I went home and had
cottage cheese and pears
peanut butter and club crackers
Friday morning I had
the rest of the pears, Go-Lean cereal (10 g fiber, 13 g protein)
lunch: big bowl regular oatmeal
snack: bran muffin; peanut butter and crackers; cantaloupe
dinner: beef vegetable soup, two slices wheat bread
drinks: LOT of juice in hospital, cranberry juices and white grape juice at home, in addition to water.
medication: Each morning I have taken a Surfak. Wednesday and Thursday I was still taking 2 Vicodin regularly, Friday I didn't need the Vicodin so much so I tapered off. I plan to skip the Surfak today since everything came out okay.
Hopefully this will help some nervous pre-ops. THe bottom line is: follow the directions they give you at the hospital and you will most likely do just fine.
