itcy incision again at 10 weeks...

Hi All,
I know there have been a lot of comments about itchy incision and here's another! I thought I was done with that, but now at 10 weeks, my incision has really started to itch again! Just wondered if this was normal? I suppose it has to do with the fact that I have definitely become more active this past week with going back to work and many more "normal" activities! Just thought I'd throw the question out to see what others have experienced. I wonder why it would start to itch again so much?!? Thanks! zanylynn

itcy incision again at 10 weeks...

Hi There!

You could ask your doctor for a definitive answer, but my thought is that it's simply another phase of healing. I remember that one of the earliest things my mother taught me was that if a sore or "owchie" is itching, then it's healing. So....in my opinion, an itching incision is "a good thing."

Continue taking good care of yourself as your recovery continues!

itcy incision again at 10 weeks...

I don't have an explanation but I'm almost 11 weeks post-op and my incision still itches a lot. It's not every day or all the time, but often enough to get on my nerves. I try to keep it moisturized with vitamin E oil and that seems to help.

ICHY INCISION

Hello Sisters,

This is so funny. I haven't visited the site since 12/27/04. I just popped in to see why after 7 months the itch was still there.
Thanks to all and to the new ones out there, the itching continues. My aunt memtioned it can last up to a year. I have it off and on at times and yes it can be embarassing to scratch in public. I have tried the oil of olay shower lotion for extra dry skin. It works wonders. You put it on in the shower all over and rinse with the warm water. Careful not to put it on the incision in the beginning just around it until you get your dr's ok. It conditions your skin and keeps that area from getting too dry. It seems to only itch when I run out. So you may want to keep some on hand. Ok it is good to know that we are all healing just fine. We also have to thank God that before we all had these procedures we had a lot more to worry about than a little itch. I'll take and itch anyday over heavy bleeding, painful cramps, and uncontrolable periods.

HI Ladies, I had two other surgeries before my hyst that also required the bikini line incision and I can tell you that even years after those surgeries from time to time that my incision would itch. so in my opinion it is normal. Take Care, Cathy

Hi

I'm at 9 1/2 weeks and my incision has just started itching. I put it down to nerve endings trying to mend, although everything's still numb!
