Abdominal surgery scheduled for 2/23

I am 41, and have had daily pain for 6 years. After trying all the other alternatives I could find, I have finally scheduled my surgery and am looking forward to some relief and to getting my life back. Because of my diagnoses (adenomyosis, some adhesions, and a severely retroflexed uterus) I will be having an abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral ooferectomy. I have never had major surgery, and even though I have had three totally natural births, I am a little uneasy about having an abdominal incision. I would appreciate any reasssurance. Thanks!

Hi Shatzie........I understand how you feel, as I am very nervous too, but keep reading this site, the woman here are very helpful, and will help you feel more at ease!!!! This site sure has helped me!!!!! I even told the pre-op nurse about it, and she thought it sounded great, and she is going to tell future patients about it!!!!!

I'm now 3+ months out, and it's the best thing I could have done!!
In spite of having the surgery pain, could tell the daily pain was gone almost immediately - what a relief!
The first week is hard - stay on top of the pain with your medications.
Rest, drink lots of water and walk...then rest some more. Give your body time to heal. Let us know how it goes.
