I'm back

Didn't realize it has been almost a year since I was on the website and almost 4 yrs ago when I joined. Well, I now have a date for my hysterectomy. I now have to decide on keeping my ovaries or letting them go also. Realistically because they are part of my problem they will go. Just would like to keep them for the natural hormones. I will be back on tonight to read and get more support. I am thankful for this site.

whitetiger, and welcome back! I was on and off the site for two years before I even created a user account. I struggled quite a bit coming to the decision that a hysterectomy was the best option for me to have a decent quality of life. If you joined four years ago, then I imagine you've had quite a journey here, too. I hope the hysterectomy takes care of everything you need it to.

Do you know what kind of surgery you'll be having? Mine was done vaginally, and I kept my ovaries, although I had agreed to let them go if there were any problems. I had a great deal of pelvic pain due to small fibroids. I'm very happy to say that since the surgery, the things that used to trigger pain now trigger--nothing. It's been quite a relief for me. What has your doctor recommended about your ovaries?

The decision will be mine on keeping my ovaries or not. I want to but my ovaries are part of my problems. I will give him the option to take them if need be when he gets in there if I decide not to have them taken out. I have accepted doing the hysterectomy but now my mind is heavily on what to do about the ovaries. He says by what I have describe lately I have endometriosis. Because I have been in so much pain lately I didn't let him exam me on Friday but he will before and we will have more discussion. I like this doctor he listens and that is helping alot.
