Insurance Pre-authorization ?

Hi. I'm new. I've been reading here for a while, but I finally have a question that I hadn't seen an answer to...
I am scheduled to have a TAH with removal of my one remaining ovary. Yesterday I got a letter of approval from my insurance co. stating they approved my surgery for a 2 day stay. It says, "2 days July 3-5"

What?! Are they kidding me?!

I have my pre-op appointment tomorrow, so I guess I'm going to ask the GYN about it. Does that sound too short for TAH to you ladies?

I didn't get a letter from my insurance but the Dr. told me 3 days max. Glad they know how long it will take us to be ready to go home!

I had a pre approval letter from <> for 2 days. I ended up being in the hospital 5 nights. The doctor usually has final say when you will be ready to leave the hospital. The insurance company can't plan for the delays one might encounter.

I also got a pre-approval letter from <> approving me for 2 nights 6/24 and 6/25. My doctor said either 2 or 3 nights. We will see!

They approve you for 2 nihts and if you need to stay the dr will get approval for more tim and it is not a problem. I think it is just kind of a starting point.

i went in on a tuesday and left thursday night. I would say 2 to 3 days is average for normal recovery.

I had an SAH and was pre-approved for two nights, which could have been extended to four, if necessary. I only stayed for two nights.

My dr told me probaly a two night stay.

I haven't recieved anything from the ins. company but my dr. said 3 nights. I am having TAH.

I was in for one night, came home after 6 pm the next day. Depends on the individual and how your doing after surgery.
