TAH suggestions for making sneezing & coughing less painful

I have been sneezing and coughing lately. Not a lot but enough to hurt like heck. Anyone have any tips for making it less painful?

what were adviced in a leaflet is to hold a pillow against your tummy to help ease it a little, so sorry to hear you have a cough

yep. hold a pillow firm against the belly. I held firm where my incisions were. I had a bad cough after surgery from just having crappy lungs and being tubed. Sorry it is no fun. I would treat the symptoms to lessen them if possible.

I found that if I pinched my nose or just rubbed it, I could stop the sensation and the sneeze from happening. Doing that stopped a lot of sneezes! I didn't chance a sneeze for the first 4 weeks! When I finally let myself sneeze it didn't even come out full force, so it wasn't too bad!

The least painful way for me to cough was to lay down on my side and pull my legs up.
