2 surg for me this year.having trouble getting over the anathesia.how about you?

9 weeks after my abdominal hyst i fell and broke my right hand. so i had to have surgery so the doc could put a metal plate and pins in my hand to put the badly broken hand back together.

the hand is doing ok. i can handle this pain.

ok so im 10weeks hyst post op and 1 week hand surg post op.

im still not over the hand surgery. i think having 2 surgeries so close together was to much for my brittle diabetic body. im still getting light headed, sick to my stomache and extra weak . i think 2 bouts of anathesia(sp) 9 weeks apart was to much to soon.

after i awoke from the anathesai i had to make my lungs exhale and inhale. if i feel asleep in the post op room then id stop breathing because i was not awake to make myself breathe.

i barfed alot, could not pee and was ever so light headed. im still sick from it 1 week later. doc says ill get over it.

i was just getting over the hysterectomy and now this happenes. im about back to sqaure one. but im ok.

anyone else ever have trouble getting over anathesia? did you have the same type of breathing troubles?

I am so sorry you had to have another surgery so soon

After my elbow surgery I had a lot of difficulty breathing! I kept setting off the oxygen monitor, nurses would rum in and shout at me to breathe, all I wanted to do was sleep but when I slept I forgot to breathe! It was a weird feeling! I had nausea after getting home, but because of reflux surgery I can not throw up so ended up back in hospital for 3 days getting my stomach pumped!!

so glad I did not have these problems so close to another surgery, How awful for you.

Hope you get well soon!!

I'm sorry you're having so many difficulties!

I had two surgeries in a month. The first was a failed D&C and I hemorrhaged for 13 days after due to a bleeding disorder. Then I had a TAH right away. I almost quit breathing after surgery, but it turns out that was due to some very scary narcotics allergies I have.

I have 5 heart conditions, a pacemaker, a bleeding disorder and several other conditions. I'm healing up extremely slowly and I'm finding I must take it very easy. The breathing problems seem to be better, but all my specialists are concerned about something or other. I'm just doing my best to take it easy and allow myself to heal.

I hope you're doing better very soon!

Yes, the first thing I recall in the post op room was the nurse in charge of me shaking me and telling me she needed me to take deep breaths, I must have dozed off because she started shaking me again and told me to breathe. I also recall being scared in my room at the hospital because I would "catch" myself not breathing. I had not even thought about any of that until I read your question, then it brought it all back to me. I wonder if that is a normal reaction to anesthesia? Very scary when I think about it. I hope that you recover from the after effects soon, especially having to recover from 2 surgeries. Take care of yourself.
