Question regarding personal belongings

When I go into the castle on June 10th (yikes) I would like to bring my cell phone and ipod. Where would you say to keep these things when I am walking the halls or in the bathroom, etc. I can't see how I am going to be so limber to be hiding things all the time. I am sure that mostly they would be fine but one never knows.

Re: Question regarding personal belongings

Its hard to say but in a drawer, the robe pocket, or in your closet are about the main choices. Mainly, out of sight. Back up your data into the computer before you go, in case. I left mine at home, I am not a trusting type I guess. Good luck with your surgery.

Re: Question regarding personal belongings

Some private rooms have a small safe in the wardrobe, also my bedside table had a lock.

I did not have any issues, just took my cell phone with me when going for a walk.

Wishing you all the best for your surgery!

Re: Question regarding personal belongings

I was in the hospital for three days after my TAH and I left most of my personal belongings at home. I had a couple books that I kept in a tote bag on the bedside table and the only valuable thing I had was my Nintendo DS. I kept that right next to me. I had a phone by my bed and the TV had a radio built in.

Re: Question regarding personal belongings

Guess it all depends.

There were only two of us, in my wing of the hospital (and I am in a large city, with many hospitals.)

I left my cell phone home, and, yep, I am one of those without an ipod.

I think the answer to your question may be, "how long are you supposed to be in the hospital"?

Re: Question regarding personal belongings

I had a small backpack that I kept all my stuff in while I was in my room. My hospital gown had a pocket at about chest level that fit my ipod and phone perfectly for when I was out walking. I just left my earphones under my pillow.

Re: Question regarding personal belongings

The hospital I stayed in had a little set of drawers next to the bed and the top drawer had a lock in it. The nurses use it for your drugs, plus I also asked if they could lock my jewellery in there (went in second time in an emergency and forgot to take it off before hand) and also, I had great nurses, so I was able to get my valuables locked away before I went for my walk and then when I came back, the nurses would unlock the drawer and I could get them out.
Also, if it isn't needed, but you want it locked away for your stay, the nurses had a safe at the nurses station.
Hope this helps.

Re: Question regarding personal belongings

I just hid my cell phone under my sheets when I went for a walk. I had a private room so wasn't too concerned about things. I had my ipod there but honestly just left it sitting on top of my table thing the whole time (never used it). Keeping it in your robe pocket when you're walking is probably a good idea too.
