getting sick after surgery

My stomach is easily upset and since this was my first surgery, I didn't know what to expect. I discussed with my surgeon at pre-op and she told me to be sure and ask the anesthesiologist for extra anti-nausea meds the morning of surgery. They also gave me zofran afterwards, and it did the trick nicely. Best wishes to you!

Let the nurse know when you get there that you're nervous and have an upset stomach. She can give you something right away to calm your nerves. Be careful after surgery also. They served me a full dinner four hours after my surgery and while I wasn't hungry, I ate the roll because I though it would keep my stomach from getting upset from the pain meds. WRONG! I threw up the roll two hours later and that was not fun. It hurt so bad I cried. My advice...don't eat until you're hungry and let the nurse give you anti-nausea meds. Good luck!
