What will it be like without OVARIES!!!!!!

Hi ladies, I had my pre-op today and i forgot to ask the one question I was concerned about. My surgery is 9-20 and I will be having LAVH/BSO/TVT. I was wondering what I will go through without having my OVARIES any more?????????? What changes will take place and how soon will I feel the affects???????? Please help me I am terrified. I am only 24 and have three children. Thank you

Will you be using HRT? I'm using Vivelle dot patches and I feel better than I did before surgery....no more mood swings, bloaty feelings, headaches. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get the correct dosage, but I was lucky enough to have the 2nd try be the magic number.

I think you should really try to talk to your doctor about that one. You are very young, so I am assuming that your doc will want you to take HRT. Unless of course you have endo, in which case, you may want to hold off on HRT.

I think every woman experiences menopause differently. My mom had an easy time of it, with very few symptoms. Other women experience severe hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, among other things.

The best person to discuss this with would be your doc.

Hi there, I had a LAVH on August 20th and had everything removed. As far as havin no Ovaries the only thing that I have experience is Hotfalshes and nite sweats/ But other than that that is all. My Dr started me on Premarin after my 2 weeks check up and so far it all is workin out. Hope all works out for ya.

I had everything taken out except my cervix in January at age 25. The only thing I have noticed about my missing ovaries is NO MORE PERIODS!!!! While in the hospital my doctor gave me a shot of harmones that lasted 3 weeks and then he put me on a daily pill called estratest H.S. I have NEVER had any menopause symptoms. Eight months later I am working out at Curves, normal sex life, everything is great! I almost think being younger may have helped. Best of luck to you sister!
