Ok! NOW WHAT?

Hey Math gal, I too am 45. Had a TAH in November and remember all too well the crying and feelings of everything from being a burden to my loved ones to feeling like they didn't care about me one bit. Talk to your doctor and see if you need to get on hrt's. I have chosen not to and still have days that I feel everything you can imagine. One those days I try to talk to myself before I start opening my mouth to others-I am successful at times-ha. I started out with "warm flashes" the day after surgery, and thought hey, I can handle this. I still have them, more frequently and sometimes a lot more than warm ...but they aren't so bad that I crawl over into my deep freezer-ha. Well, hang in there girl, take it slow and above all else, listen to your body! Best of luck, Donna

Ok! NOW WHAT?

Hello there!

Are you on HRT? If not, are you willing to consider it?

I kept both of my ovaries and one tube, so I can't say I can relate, but my first thought would be to ask your doctor what options you have to help alleviate some of these symptoms for you.

I'm sending you some cool air to help you in the meantime!

Good luck and keep us posted!!

I just want to wish you well too. I am in my third week and the same is happening to me. I kept both ovaries and did not expect this but my dr. told me this is normal for me. I have hot flashes daily and can cry at the drop of a hat. Even at commercials! AFTER talking with my dr. I CHOSE to try and get through this. I have to go back weekly now and check in with the dr. to make sure this is the correct decision. So I guess my direction would be to first call the dr.'s office and let them know this is happening. My dr. actually scheduled a visit to just sit and talk to check on things (of course I get a regular bill) but this has helped me through this.

Sounds like what I did...I had a TAH and BSO too. My dr did not start me right up on HRT but said if I noticed any changes to call him. I did. He called out premarin and it had helped with the symptoms and did not caused any new ones. Like you, I had mild hot "flushes" and crying. Good luck to you, I feel great now. oh, doc says sometimes HRT has to be adjusted so I guess we still have to be flexible. 2up2down

Ok! NOW WHAT?

I started to feel the same way about a month after my surgery. It got progressively worse, to the point where I was having 20+ hot flashes just during the workday (I'm a teacher). I was an emotional wreck and my quality of life was just terrible--I couldn't function at home, at school, my marriage was suffering, and life was pretty crummy. I decided that my determination to stay off HRT was less important than saving my job and my marriage, so I went back to my doctor and he immediately put me on the highest dose estrogen patch. I felt like a new woman the NEXT DAY.
I am still on my patch, and I have decided that, for ME, the decision to go on HRT and use the medical technology that is available was am important quality of life decision.
Good luck!

isewquilts, my dr considers himself an estrogen advocate and still says we will probably wean me off in a years time. I'm not sure why. I feel great now and like you did not feel like that staying off HRT was worth the madness to my life. Living through PMS was enough for me and my loved ones. Heres to our health and well-being !!!! 2up2down TAH BSO 48yrs
