Has Lupron made anyone's bleeding WORSE in the first week or two?

Sandra,

Thanks for the good thoughts! The good news is, my flow has slowed down very much. I did get a CBC last week and my HG was fine (13), but then I did lose quite a bit of blood and clots after that. I was certainly tired all weekend.

But at any rate, I saw the surgery gyno today, and she told me because of the size of my fibroid, I will need two surgeries to get it totally removed. I guess they are scared my body will take up too many fluids if they try to shave away the whole huge thing in one procedure.

When they go in, they will be able to see how it is connected to the wall of my uterus, and how far it pops out onto the outside. They will also go in through my belly button to cut off the smaller fibroid on the outside, and to watch the uterus from the top.

I have never had surgery before, so I am kind of nervous, especially since I will need two. But, for now my period has slowed, and I am taking it day by day. So I am happy for now! I hope Lupron doesn't deal me any more scary nights!

Thanks again.

Bleeding after Lupron ...

I had a series of 3 injections of Lupron to shrink fibroids and stop the bleeding before a TLH. I was just about due for my period when I had the first injection. It pushed out my period date 1 week, and I could feel the estrogen surge, and then I had the gusher period from you know where - clots, heavy bleeding, having to change really often. My car seat has a lasting momento of that time (couldn't quite get it all out). However, after that period (which lasted 4 more days than normal), absolutely nothing! No more periods, no more bleeding. Yeah, a few hot flashes, and I definitely felt postmenopausal, but by the time of my surgery my iron levels were normal (I had to have iron supplements). It will get better (as far as the bleeding goes).

Hi Lucille,
All of us are nervous before surgery to some degree (even those of us with more experience in an OR than we'd prefer).
Pamper your body in prep for your surgery with nutritious food, sleep, long bubble baths, mayge a massage or pedicure...and indulge in whatever makes you feel better (in moderation of course if it's chocolate).
Stock up on whatever you like to read and think positive thoughts.
Good luck and post back with your progress.

Has Lupron made anyone's bleeding WORSE in the first week or two?

Hello,
I was treated for endometriosis with Lupron and during the first month I had all kinds of irregular and heavy bleeding. After that it stopped being heavy but continued being irregular up until the 5th shot. I finished my series of six shots in January and haven't had any bleeding since my fifth shot.

I asked the doctor's office and they said "it can happen" - no one was alrmed or concerned. Apparently Lupron has quite a range of possible side effects. Some women have less issues than others and they don't really know why who gets which side effects.

Thanks to all of you for your comments, they have really helped me stay calm! Cross your fingers with me, for now the bleeding seems to have completely subsided. I hope it stays away until I'm able to get surgery!

While I was on Lupron my bleeding did not get any worse the first 2 weeks, but I never stopped bleeding either. I did notice that I had more clots than before though, which is very strange! I'm sorry for what you are going through right now, I hope it slacks off very soon!

I was "pleased" to read about your experience. While I don't have a fibroid, but adenomyosis I did have my first shot of Lupron just over a week ago. I informed my gyno that I was due for my period the next day -- only it never arrived. Almost a week later it did, and today GUSH! Flooding, clots, aching --- misery. Thanks for allowing me to know you suffered the same also .... misery loves company! LOL
