Pre-Op Appointment

As the day gets closer, I'm also finding other things to do. A group of friends came over last night to kick back, relax and dance under the stars. It was a great distraction - plus it's been a long time since I've both watched the sunset and sunrise!

I'm packing today then off to the Waterfront Blues Festival!

Goodluck on the 7th C!

Pre-Op Appointment

My pre-op date is the day before surgery. I will be seeing my doctor at 9:30am and then I will be going over to the hospital...which is walking distance from my docs office, and I guess they'll be doing everything then. I'm not sure, but that's how they set it up for me here.
I do hope that all goes well for you for your surgery!

Pre-Op Appointment

I had my preop meeting with the doc AND preadmission testing on the same day, 2 weeks before surgery. Thanks to the ladies on this site and their lists of things to ask the doc!! He was cool with all my questions and agreed that he would do the entire surgery. (Usually he does part and a resident does part, but he said if I don't want the resident to do anything, she'll just observe.)

The pre-admit testing just consisted of the nurse asking questions and then the 14-year-old phlebotomist Amy drawing blood. (OK, so she was probably, maybe, 20.) And I auto-donated two units of my blood last week too! My left arm (where my one good vein lives) is tired of getting stuck!

All I have to do is not eat or drink after midnight before surgery. No bowel prep, thank goodness.

IF you do have to auto-donate, drink TONS of water for the day before and day of your donation. Makes it much easier to get into your veins. And have a big breakfast. I almost passed out after the first donation, and they said to eat lots of protein and carbs, but no sugar, the next time.

The blood bank ladies are very nice. And they have yummy cookies too.

tomorrow is the day!

Well, this is it! Today I'm taking the dog to the vet, or course she had to injure herself so I'd have a distraction, yes?

I get to play with the home enima too. Never done it by myself before, and have only had one prior. As I have an afternoon surgery scheduled they said I could wait until the am for this lovely task, but as I won't be eating anything anyway, why wait.

What have you set up for aftercare? A good friend of mine said to make sure you get Percacet instead of oxicodone. Her nurses sauugested it. She didn't wait to feel pain, she took it every 4 hours and recovered quickly.

Personally, I want NO pain. I feel like I've paid my dues there!

Tomorrow's the day

I got my call. Wouldn't you know it? They scheduled me for 7:30 AM. That will mean getting up at 2 or 3 in the morning to leave in time to arrive at the castle by 5:30 in the morning!

I thought that was considerate of them! NOT!

Not that I've been sleeping well anyway, but geeezzz!

Company left this morning. We all went to breakfast. That carried me through most of the day which has consisted of vacuuming, changing sheets, sweeping (last time ), etc.

Count down to enema time.

I'm a wreck. I find myself trying to think of what I could possibly be forgetting.

Thanks to all for your support. The lists have been great!

Now, what to do with DH's frazzled nerves....

Best wishes to all! You're in my thoughts and prayers.

best wishes!

By the time you get this you'll be done with Auntie Flow! It's an hour prior to me leaving for the castle. I'm twidling my thumbs at this point!
Hope things went well and I'm looking forward to chatting about our recovery!

Now on the flip side

This is my first day back with the Sisters. I hope everyone's surgery went well.

The doctor found more damage than anticipated. I had endo tissue attached to everything! All internal organs were scraped and he removed my tubes and ovaries.

I've updated my profile to reflect that change.

Hope all my 7/7/04 Sisters on well on their way to a slow and steady recovery.

Let's do it right the first and only time we can.

Love to all!

I'm home!

I'm glad you're home! Sounds like things were eventful for you. So far things have gone as planned for me.

I'm going to continue to write, but on the post op board.
