Bladder won't fully empty Self Cathing

I had my davinci on August 17th. The day after they took the catheter out i was not able to pee. They cathed me twice taking 875 ml once and 825 a couple hours later. They sent me home after the second night with caths to do myslef. I'm getting nervous. I do pee but not all of it empties and i sometimes cath 300 -400 ml out of me. Is this going to go away? One of my ureters was stuck to the rectum vagina and cervix and it had to be peeled away. Thye said the ureters were open. I'm wondering if I could have nerve damage to my bladder. And now I have a low grade fever so i suppose I will get a UTI form all the caths. I keept ovaries and cervix. I think I am getting as nervous as I was before the surgery. Has anyone experienced this? and did your bladder finally fully empty on it's own?

Re: Bladder won't fully empty Self Cathing

Well I have not been able to empty my bladder fully since surgery(2months ago). I do not self cath though, I just go pee every 30 minutes. However, I did find out 2 days ago that I have a huge bruise on my bladder and lots of trauma from the surgery. What does your Dr. say about it? At first mine just blew me off for weeks and weeks. He finally did a scan 2 days ago and low and behold I had this huge bruise on my bladder.
Good Luck and hopefully yours will get better really soon!

Re: Bladder won't fully empty Self Cathing

BBB,

I had the same problem. When the cath came out at the hospital, my bladder wouldn't empty. They sent me home after 2 days and wanted me to self-cath. I tried and tried to do it myself but couldn't, even with a nurse helping me. I am impressed that you can do this!

So they sent me home with a foley catheter. Once they took the cath out permanently, I was going, but not emptying, I don't think. I was peeing more often than normal. Long story short, it took about 3 weeks for me to urine "normally." Now my bladder is back and in full effect!!!

Give it a little bit of time. It will get better.
