oops... I lifted

Well I thought I was officially back to superwoman status last week. I've started exercising again and lifting more and have been feeling good. But I helped lift something big last Thursday and here I am now on Tuesday with major swelly belly (it actually was bad yesterday too) and my insides feel crampy when I urinate. Of course I have waited until my doctor's office is closed to call and ask them about it. They will probably tell me I way over did it! What do I do now?

stop lifting things. I know it's frustrating, I'm so sick of it too & I'm a month behind you. I'm waiting to be strong enough to move out of a money pit & my body just isn't cooperating.

Wow, I had no idea that it takes that long to get over it. I had a LSH so hopefully it won't be so long for me.

Take it easy and don't lift and thanks for the heads up.

Hopefully it won't take that long for you JazzyLoo. I have yet to figure out if it's the norm with TAH. Looks like we also had different issues pre-op too. I think we get to about week 6 or 8 & have read every possible question & answer on this site, then we don't come back as often further in recovery.

WOW..that is 6 months later?? I am going to be afraid to lift anything now for a very very long time. I have read it takes a year to fully recover..now I believe that may be true.

Best of luck to you. I hope it's nothing bad...just a slight strain.

Hugs

What did you lift

Hi Puddin

I had the same surgery on the same day and have been very careful not to do any lifting or ab workouts. Have been hiking and kayaking and walking lots. Just curious how much or what did you lift?

Good luck with getting back on track for a full recovery.

Hiker,

Can you tell me what you think is ok to lift at 9 weeks and 4 days? I'd like to be clearer on this, my doctor said light lifting after 6 weeks.

My lifting wasn't "light". I helped move something heavy... but it was quick and I felt great -- I have been working out again and doing pretty much everything that I would normally do. I do get a bit worn out sometimes... but this was worse I just had a lot of activity - too much- all around the same time... and I really felt it. I won't do that again! I also stopped paying attention to my daily activity like running up and down the stairs a million times and carrying thing over 10 pounds a lot (outside sales... presentation binders, product...) I am better now! as luck would have it we had an all day seminar the day I was really bad and I had to sit all day, which was exactly what I needed to do at that point!
