Re: Bowel Prep - What Joy!!!

I wasnt' sure what to expect when I went to my pre-op appt on the 11th of Dec. My doctor's instructions were for two enemas. One the night before and one the morning of the surgery. Well, since tonight is the night before, I have completed execution of the first enema (the first I have ever given myself) and it wasn't as bad as I had thought it would be, although I do not believe the bathroom should be too far away at this point. I have been eating light for the past several days, so hopefully that has helped. Good luck to all my sisters as they proceed to the castle!

Best wishes for your surgery. I am sure you will do fine. I would definitely be by the bathroom. Sending lots of hugs and prayers for a quick recovery.

Re: Bowel Prep - What Joy!!!

I was on clear liquids the day before and had to drink the awful liquid tha night before.I thought i might get sick, an hour after I drank it I had to go. Then I was up almost half the night and my surgery I was supposed to be there 6 am although I couldn't sleep anyway. My surgery lasted 5 and a half hours. I had to stay in the hospital for 5 days, couldn't get out of bed till the 3rd day I felt so nauseous. When I did come home I hd to keep the catheter in for 2 weeks. My Dr thinned the wall of my bladder and it took a long time for my bladder to empty all the way. Then my incision becme infected , delt with that for another 3 weeks. Finally feeling better in week 7 but still a chore to get out of bed.
