Hot flash question

My doctor will be leaving my ovaries. They are healthy and I'm only 40. This may be a stupid question, but do you get hot flashes after the surgery? I thought that only happened when you go into menopause.

Hot flash question

Hi Kindred

From what I've read on here, your ovaries have a good chance of going into shock due to the surgery. It can take several weeks for them to start working correctly again. During this time, you may have menopausal symptoms. I believe (but may be wrong) that you can wear a patch until they start working again. You may wish to check with your doctor on that.

Hot flash question

Hi Kindred,

I too had a few night sweats and hot flushes in the first few weeks after a TVH & both ovaries remained. I'm 36 and now have had a quick insight into what we can expect when we do go into menopause! They stopped after the second week, and I did not take anything for it.

All the best.

Cheers,
Albie

Hot flash question

Kindred,

Great question! I wish I would of asked. I'm 41 and kept both ovaries and I took had hot flashes for about 1 week post op. They weren't bad I was just not expecting them. At first I thought I might be running a fever due to infection, had my DS run out and get a thermometer

All the best to you for a succesful surgery!!
