Crying like a madwoman

Well got up this morning felt a bit depressed then it all started, crying and laughing at the same time like a madwoman.. it just won't stop. I'm supposed to go to work too.. I called my dr and am waiting for a callback. I haven't started any hrt but I may have to just to stop this. Has anyone had this happen and how long did it last?? TIA

I'm sorry you are going through this. I know it is very hard I went through the same thing. I don't know if you keep your ovaries or not. I did keep my but I have low estrogen levels. So now I am on hrt. It has help me so much. You need to talk with our dr and see what they say.

Crying like a madwoman

No ovaries, and my dr is gone til Thursday.. The dr I talked to said that women going thru menopause don't cry like this. I may need an anti depressant. Ok this makes me feel worse.. but 2 of the nurses told me its just that I need some estrogen. Who knows, I will pick up the estrogen this dr called in and wait to talk to my dr when he gets back.

Crying like a madwoman

Ragy...It will get better girl. I went thru the crying, depressed thing like 2 1/2 mos after my surgery. I was at work and was just crying for the heck of it. Hyperventilating, ect. I thought I was loosing my mind. I just got so overwhelmed with everything I broke down. My dr said my seratonin levels were all screwed up and put me on a antidepressant; I have been on it for a year. I call it my "happy pills" b/c I didn't feel sad anymore...I am on HRT, though. But i just recently quit taking them to see if I was okay enough to be off of them. Be strong girl...if you need anything you can write me anytime...Be strong, we're all in this crazy post hysterectomy thing together!!! Jody

I been going through crying fits also, but its only been 1 week since my hysterectomy. My biggest let down at the time was they were going to try to keep the left ovary, unfortunately that wasn't the case. I had both ovaries removed along with uterus, and cervix, and started estrogen 3 days ago. So far I don't think I have had any hot flashes, but i'm not sure when the would start. I was put on Zanax and that really seems to be helping, it just seems to take the edge off of everything.

I too am having crying spells. Have since I first came home from my surgery that was 7 wks ago today. They took everything and I've been on HRT since the first day of my surgery. It's like this emotional rollercoaster that will never end. I've been holding my own and staying busy, but if it continues I will be speaking to my dr. next wk at my 8 wk post-op appt. Could be that I'm on the wrong kind of HRT. Right now I'm on Estrace (pill). I know there are a lot of other HRT options out there and my dr. says that it's just a matter of finding the right one that works for me and my body. I just dread the bloodwork....

It lasted about 2 weeks or so, but it took like 2 1/2 mos to get there. I think everything just caught up with me, like being with my husband for 16 years, feeling like I have 3 kids (including him) and all the "wifey, mother, etc" things that we have to do. As soon as my dr put me on Effexor XR, I'd say about a week later, I felt like a champ. If you ever get on an antidepressant, take it at night. My experience was that if I took it in the am, it took me like all day or at least until after lunch to get the cobweb's out of my head...i just couldn't function. So I started taking it at night and was able to sleep off those wierd feelings. Just talk to ur dr...it will get better...there's a light at the end of the tunnel, I promise...I'm are here if you need me or just want to talk.
