LAVH: 12 Days before LAVH/BSO and just had my pre-op

My pre-op appointment was today and my pre-assessment is tomorrow. I noticed on my paperwork that my surgeon did not ask for a chest xray or a EKG - just wondering if that was 'normal'? I'm 40 if that makes any difference!!

Otherwise, it's all starting to seem 'real' now! I'm apprehensive about surgery, but looking forward too life afterwards :-)

I think if you're in pretty good health it may not be mandatory. I've had surgeries and required it, but I had friends who were way healthier than me and they never had one. I don't know if that's the reason or not, but it's just my very uneducated guess!

I didn't have an EKG or chest xray before my TVH either and I was 41 at the time. The good thing is it was just one less thing for me to worry about.

When I had my preop to get my gallballder out, I had an ekg. I was 31 and healthier than I am now. I had just turned 50 the week before my preop for my LAVH. The preop nurse told me she was wondering if I should have a chest X ray, as I have asthma, which I did not have at 31. I told her whatever she thought was best, but she decided not to send me for one. So I think it may be a judgment call, where they weigh the risks versus benefits. Just my thought.

Funnily, I had a EKG when I had a kidney stone blasted, but nothing for when I had my gallbladder out.... I have asthma too, but it really is one less thing to worry about, to not have a chest xray. I'm a worrywart!
