Ok you ladies are the best! I don't know how I would b without this site!!
I am going to the castel Monday and o have a question! When I wake up will there be vaginal bleeding?? Discharge?I just dint know what to expect. I am having a tah . Dr is going to leave ovaries due to my age 38 and cervex only if it looks ok.. Still bit clear on y I'm leaving the cervex but dr seems to think with no history of bad paps best to leave it in! Still very nervous and still not much help in case anyone was wondering!! Also I haven't slept in 2 nights at all .. Took a little nap today but can't seem to get into a good sleep .. Anyone else have this? Looking forward to here from u ..

Re: Question ?? Confused?tah 3.22.10
Hi No more bleeding,
I had a TVH and anterior/posterior repair 5 weeks ago with ovaries left in and I had vaginal bleeding which stopped at approx 3 weeks, altho still having some brown/pink discharge (sorry if TMI but thought might help....). The bleeding initially wasn't massively heavy but I needed pads all the time. Disposable pants were great
Sympathise re the sleeping. I struggled beforehand cos I kept thinking about whether I was doing the right thing....Try and rest when you can so you don't go in too shattered.
Hope all goes well and thinking of you.

Re: Question ?? Confused?tah 3.22.10
Hi,
I had TAH on 3/3/10 and also kept ovaries. My Dr. also said he would leave my cervix if there was a prob with scar tissue. Thought it may have attached to bladder and didn't want to risk any further problems. Needless to say no scar tissue so out went the cervix! I think they like to leave it if possible to support the pelvic floor. Try to get rest, I know it is hard cause I didn't sleep much prior either. Think this is realy normal. Each person is different in healing process but I have had a pretty easy recovery. Best advise is to get up (the straighter the better) and walk as soon as possible. I was walking within 6-8 hours of surgery! That was just me, many ladies are not ready so listen to your body!!! Walking helps with moving the gas that you will have. Trust me you will want it to move! Good luck with your surgery and don't worry you will do fine. Let me know if you have any other questions
Hugs,
Laurie

Re: Question ?? Confused?tah 3.22.10
I just had my TAH 6 days ago, also had BSO, ended up keeping cervix.
No vaginal bleeding for me at all- but everyone's different. I used to do this surgery as nurse & saw that most who had spotting / bleeding either had the cervix removed via TAH or had vaginal surgeries ( TVH, etc)
Let me know what other questions you may have - I kept very detailed notes on every day so far from surgery to now on EVERYTHING.

Re: Question ?? Confused?tah 3.22.10
I had no bleeding, but did have diarrhea, maybe left over from my bowel cleanse. The nurses were happy that my bowels were working, even if not well. So I had BMs from the start; in my case, they got progressively firmer.
But that meant that I did soil the pads on the bed. They had pads down, and I put my bare bottom on them. When they got soiled, they would get changed. The good thing about sleeping bare-bottomed is that you have a lower risk of infection.
Best of luck to you!
