Confused

I'm 6 days post-op. I was feeling really good after coming home. We took out my pelvic pain Cather on day 4 and I have felt bad the last 2 days. My husband says I need to relax and remember that it's only been a few days since surgery. Am I trying to rush my recovery or should I be worried? Having pain while urinating but at least I can urinate now and am having pain when having a bm. Hope I start feeling better. Thanks for listening.

Re: Confused

Sorry you aren't feeling well. To be on the safe side, you really ought to contact your surgeon and let him or her know what you are experiencing. Before you call, check your temperature and write down your symptoms so that you can relay exactly what's going on when you speak with the on-call doctor. Hope you feel better soon!

Re: Confused

What you describe sounds about what I was feeling. The first 2 or so days I felt okay, just tired, achy, in a little pain. After that I felt like I took several steps backwards and almost 3 weeks later I am still really tired. It does get better, but slowly. Don't rush it. Listen to your body.

If you are very concerned about what is going on, please call your doc.

Re: Confused

I say ask your doctor if you are concerned at all. Even if they make you feel silly, you'll sleep better if you know that things are okay. I had similar symptoms about the same stage of recovery. Was convinced I was getting a UTI, but think my system was a little irritated from the cath. Also, gas and BM's were quite uncomfortable for me.

Re: Confused

Thanks for your suggestions. Finally called doc and made an appt but had to go to ER last night. Have a UTI and very constipated. So gave medicine and trying to get better.
