back to work, OH MY!!!

Oh My!!!.

I went back to work after 8 weeks today and every muscle in my body hurts! Even my hair hurts. I am a heating and air conditioning technician and the job is very physically demanding. I took it real easy today and stuck to my weight lifting restrictions. I only did about half the number of jobs I normally do and none of them were particularly hard, but I feel like crap! I am glad that I went back on a Friday because I am going to need the weekend to recober from today. I even took one of my leftover pain meds when I got home, and I took a bath, and a nap. When I awoke, my DH had dinner made for the family. I didn't say much to him when I came home. Maybe he has actually grown in understanding over the last few months. I hope that the women that have physpcal jobs read this so they can help me to understand how to deal with this difficulty I am having. The family has been great through this, but I don't think that I could have made it this far without all of you wonderful women. Any hints would be greatly appriciated.

Heal well, and God be with you,

Kym

Re: back to work, OH MY!!!

Kym,
It will get better. I had an LSH, so my healing time was shorter, but getting back to taking care of horses, cleaning stalls etc took a bit of time. The first day I went back to it I was sore and swollen and just plain tired. The next day I wasn't as sore and was able to do it again. Everyday I felt less tired and stronger.
If you can swing it can you do one day on, one day off for a week? That seemed to help me a lot.

Re: back to work, OH MY!!!

Easing back into your normal routine is the way to do it, IMO. Go slow and easy, rest when you need to. My dr told me that initial recovery after a hysterectomy is usually between 6 - 8 weeks but complete healing can take up to a year or so.
Maybe, if full days are too much, you could try half days for a bit.

Your DH sounds like a "keeper" to me.

Best wishes.
