Well, here I am - on the "other" side of the board - post that is

Finally made it to the "other side of the board". And I have to say EVERYBODY WAS RIGHT - the anticipation WAS the worst part!

The operation was a snap. Doctor said it was the easiest she'd ever done. And yes, everything, and I mean everything is gone - clean sweep.

The only problem I had was that I was ALLERGIC in some form to just about every drug they put into me. I remember waking up and then breaking out into hives. They put me on benedril, which stopped the itching but practically put me into a coma.

Oh well, it was good to come home. The pain was minor and I stopped taking the prescription drugs a few days after I came home. A little tylenol seems to work fine.

This will be week 3 for me - I finally get to drive again. HOORAY! My brother took me grocery shopping and I came home exhausted! It's no go going to a store only to be too tired to go in!

Tried wearing my bluejeans but took them off quickly! A week more perhaps before I can shed the sweats.

Finally got my computer up and running so I'll check in from time to time. Anybody who needs their "hand held" - let me know. A lot of people here held my hand for me and kept reassuring me that it will be all right. Will be glad to share that wisdom with you newbies.

Hi dlhavard,

to post op! I'm glad to hear your surgery went so well and you dealt with the allergies ok too. You will do well with your positive spirit. Week three can be a hard one so just beware. It seems like many think they are over the hump and ready to take on life and it is usually way too soon.
Listen to what your body tells you and take it slowly as you add back in activities. You still have a lot of healing to do. Let us know if we can help.

dhavard,

Welcome to post-op! You will learn so much from this side too. I don't know what I would have done without all these fine people.

I have sat here and cried over bladder spasms, legs hurting, and so many other things. They listen, and we all seem to go thru the same problems.

Don't ever feel ashamed to ask a question, that you would think as dumb. No dumb questions in this site. Your body is going to go thru many changes right now. I'm still learning that myself.

Times I have been scared. I just logon and find that someone at sometime has had, or had the same problems as me.

Thank god for these people. I have met many women on here and email them as well. It's just wonderful!!!

I wish you well.

I fit into my JEANS again (though I admit I'm a little sore after wearing them all day).

I was going shopping to day for the first time - only to find out that I had a flat!

Ah well, wasn't meant to be.....

Spent the day carefully destroying several years worth of old records. (For you pre-and post-princesses out there, a nice little shredder is an ideal toy (only abut $20). And you get the satisfaction of cleaning out some drawers, keeping all the stuff away from identity thieves.) Plus it's a nice easy job.
