Newbie with 9mm endometrium and a 3.4 cm fibroid - UAB - post-menopausal - Need support and guidance!

Hi, I am new, here, and new also to the idea of possibly having to have a hysterectomy. I'm 62, and have been in menopause since I was about 37, due to a pituitary tumor that halted my periods. I recently learned, after having an abdominal and pelvic CT scan for hematuria, that the results showed a "posterior myometrial fibroid, endometrial thickening measuring up to 9mm which is abnormal for the patient's age and may represent endometrial hyperplasia or malignancy.' It also says that 'foci of gas' are 'seen within the endometrium which is non-specific / possibly related to recent biopsy/intervention...' I have been googling since I got that report 2 weeks ago, and while I have read something about these issues, any input on what all that could mean (e.g. is it 'likely' to be malignant? Do other women report having endometria with linings of up to 9mm? etc.) would be helpful. The doctor just referred me to the 'gynecology department' of the NYC hospital I go to. However, I have no idea whom to call; my pcp is looking into it for me, but in the meantime, days are going by. On the one hand, I'm pretty scared that there might be something cancerous or pre-cancerous in there, yet my sister, who had a lot of ovarian cysts and a hysterectomy years ago, told me It's probably 'fine.' Also, fair to say I'm obese. I don't smoke or drink, have not taken hormones and my most recent 'intervention' was a pap smear over a year ago, if you don't count a pelvic exam. Any thoughts / input on how to proceed / where in NYC? would be greatly appreciated. As I am just starting on this 'journey,' no surgery is scheduled, nor have I yet had the suggested tests (transvaginal ultrasound, and 'correlation with endometrial biopsy results.') Thanks in advance!

Try not to worry but ultrasound and ct scans can be distorted by fibroids. Mine showed a 22mm lining and fibroids in places they didn't exist. In fact both totally missed what really was wrong.
It's scary but you'll get to the bottom of it.
Best wishes to you.
