Premarin cream?

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone knows or has been prescribed Premarin cream when they still have their ovaries. At my 2 week check up from having SAH and some vaginal repairs, DR gave me a prescription for this estrogen cream to be inserted vaginally for 14 days.

She had just finished a vaginal exam (fingers only). I still have my cervix so no vaginal cuff worries, but I am still bleeding (very lightly) She said the light bleeding was normal because of the repairs. She said the cream would help speed up the healing process. Does this make sense?

Premarin Cream

Hi Cyber:

Yes, I was prescribed Premarin vaginal cream after my surgery.

My instructions are 1/2 applicator full nightly for 7 days starting one week post-op, then just once a week before bedtime after that.

My Dr. also told me it would enhance and speed-up recovery.

Expensive stuff! I do not have prescription coverage. The three grocery store pharmacies did not carry it (large grocery store chains) so I had to get it at a large chain-store pharmacy. $90.00. OUCH!

Premarin cream?

Yep I don't have my ovaries but am on adequate systemic HRT. However, when I had another vaginal repair surgery after my hyst, my DR put me on Premarin vaginal cream to speed the healing. It stays mostly in the vaginal tissues and doesn't appreciably pass into the rest of your body unless you use really massive amounts. It definitely can help the repairs heal faster and result in less scarring in there.

s,
-Linda
