Decisions on getting laparoscopic hysterectomy

Im 38 years old During my 3rd c-section I decided to receive a tubal ligation. About 2 months later I got my period back in full force. Lasted about 8 days with the first three days so bad I would drench a super plus tampon in an hour. I get weak and get migraines the first two days. I spoke with my obgyn who referred me to a specialist to discuss hysterectomy options. The specialist is conservative and sent me for a MRI. Test showed excess scaring which he feels is causing the bleeding. Because of the placement of my uterus an ablation is out. He'd like me to start using birth control pills however prior to children I was on them for many years and never liked how I felt. I am contemplating the laparoscopic surgery however am fearful of the risks involved in the surgery like bladder and kidney punctures. And is it the right decision if it's for a better quality of life rather than medically necessary.

Re: Decisions on getting laparoscopic hysterectomy

and

You've joined an amazing community where you can research, ask questions and share with women who can relate. I'm glad you found us!

This site has a forum called Hysterectomy Options and Alternatives where you can start new threads to ask for input from members. There's information to discuss with your doctor in the Hysterectomy Options Checkpoint and a video about the importance of second opinions in this link: Give Me a Second. If you do opt to schedule a hysterectomy, you can then move over to use the Pre-Op message board.

Whatever you decide, we will be here every step of the way!
