I'm Home! It's Over.....i Think.......
Hello Sisters……….I came home last night (Friday) around 7:30 pm…….kind of a weird time of night, right? Surgery was on Wednesday at noon.
I’m sore and tired. This is nothing compared to the sciatic/back pain I’ve been experiencing!
I think the only difference is that I’m more aware of the pulling staples and stitches and am being careful for that reason.
I have a little belly hang (ok, it’s not little).
and am worried that I will get an infection. That nurse said to air it out……..
Air it out? How am I supposed to do that? There’s a roll sitting, standing or lying down, she told me to lift it up! Not funny it really hurt when she did that.
They found I had endo and a bleeding right ovary that had to be removed with an extremely long cervix! Haha! Well, everything is gone except one ovary. Dr. didn’t want me to go through menopause at 42.
They didn’t have to use any of my blood, good thing and when the nurse told me she wanted to give me a suppository, I asked her if she wanted me to bend over the bed! She said, “I’m not your husband honey” hahahahahahha I thought every staple and stitch would rrrrrrrip!
Can’t get relaxed. I even rented a Geri chair for 15.00 a week for comfort and can’t get out by myself…….can’t get comfy……..gas………I guess things will get better. I’m making sure I’m taking stool softeners!

don't worry...things will get MUCH better. We have all gone through what you describe (although my nurses were not as funny)
Welcome home, and pamper yourself!! You deserve it!!

Welome Home Pandi.
We are glad your back and safe & sound.
Try and rest and drink lots of fluids, every day is a challenge and each brings new senastions and feelings. Stay close to the boards and post away. It helps to talk about it and you'll find we are all going thru the same problems too.
Sleep when you need to, try and really listen to the do's and don'ts, its so important for proper healing.

i have a little, ok not little, belly roll also. after using the restroom lift and dry there with a clean cloth. at least 2 times a day i was told to swab gently with peroxide. I used a sterile pad (can get in walgreens etc...) and placed it on the entire length of the staple line. can even tuck under fluff i also had a corset type thingy that held me together! it's been 4 weeks yesterday and still tender when i laugh too much.
if it leaks or smells bad you should call the doctor!
be pampered take care of yourself

I found a great suggestion on the boards previously to cushion the incision site. Use a maxi pad and the sticky part sticks onto your undies. I thought this was a great idea, afterall they come in so many lengths and sizes.
I have just been trying to go undie-less as much as I can. I try to wear soft skirts. I'm so glad it's summer in this case and not winter where i have to be bundled up in pants. i could not imagine wearing anything with a zipper right now or within the next few weeks.

The nurse at your castle was not funny at all! The nurses at my castle were fluffy - so they didn't make any rude or insensitive comments.
I told the nurse at my doctor's office that I was using maxi pads to try to keep my incision dry, and she said to NOT use a maxi pad because they hold the wetness against the incision. She told me that I could use a soft cotton gauze - or better yet - "air it out." (I didn't ask her "how" to air it out.
I'm "fluffy" and when I lay down to read - I do hold my tummy so my incision can air out.
After I shower - I first pat it dry gently - and then I blow dry the incision.
I do wish I had sun dresses so that I could go though the day without undies...but now it's just sleeping at night without undies.
So far - so good.
