Flying at 6 weeks post-op?

My dad has a condo down in St. Pete and wants me to come down there for a few days during my recovery. Do you think that would be a good idea?? (I'm thinking towards the END of my 6 weeks) but I was worried about traveling on an airplane and wondered if that would be O.K.

I didn't ask my doctor because I'm kind of hoping my dad drops the subject.

Flying at 6 weeks post-op?

Well, my advice is to "wait & see" how you feel at 6 weeks post-op. I was a lot better by then but did still get sore by the end of the day and tired pretty easily. My dr released me to resume normal activities at 6 weeks but I had to go slowly & ease back into them.

Maybe you can tell your dad that you just won't know until that time and would like to visit when you can enjoy it?

Best wishes.

Off the top of my head I would say GO! But, you never know how you are going to be feeling at that point...

I agree with the others in that I don't think it's something you can definitely plan in advance. But, hopefully, it won't be a problem if your recovery is smooth.

Regarding flying, we have an HS article <link> Traveling Post-Op which I hope will help.

Sending all good wishes for your surgery and recovery!
