insomnia!! Help! already 3 months post hysterectomy

I had my surgery in April. Everything went smooth kept my ovaries. I'm 3 months post op and can't sleep 5 days out of the week. I'm tired all day and I don't take naps mostly because I have a crazy schedule with 4 kids in sports. I've tried warm decaf teas, warm milk,Taking warm baths. I'm really trying to stay away from prescription meds. Any other suggestions?

Melatonin and Sleepy Time tea help me. Oh, and keeping the bedroom cool.

Have you tried a cool shower or bath before bed? Lowering your body temp and relieving stress from your muscles before getting into bed might help trigger your body to feel sleepy. I hope you get some rest soon. It's hard to chase around after children when you're exhausted. 😇Lissa

I'm 7 wks post op and having the same issue. Fall asleep fine but can't sleep through the night and waking at 5 AM. Dr. suggested melatonin but that made it worse for me. I'm reluctant to try OTC sleeping pills, just don't like taking medication. Hoping it resolves on its own. My dr said she's heard this from others so apparently it's not abnormal, but totally frustrating!!

I take magnesium and use sleepy time tea (magnesium is a double bonus to prevent constipation!). I was put on elavil for nerve issues in the cuff, which does help that but makes me sleepy. I sleep all night, and still wake up exhausted!! Felt better with the insomnia. Sure hope these ideas work for you!!

Turmeric helps me, I take a capsule before bed, or you can try this:
Bedtime Turmeric Milk
This drink is truly wonderful and warming. The turmeric and spices are pleasantly spicy and rich (and anti-inflammatory !). The honey is soothing and sweet. The milk of your choice is smooth and calming. Try having it about an hour before bed, to give yourself proper digestion time.
1/4-1/2 tsp of turmeric powder
1 C of milk of choice (I use organic flax milk)
1 tsp of raw honey or vegan- friendly sweetener
1/4 tsp each of cinnamon and cardamom
1. Over-medium high heat, heat up milk with turmeric powder and spices until warm. (Try to avoid bringing it to a boil to prevent damaging the spices.)
2. Melt in the teaspoon of honey.
3. Pour into your favourite mug and enjoy!

Nosic, that recipe sounds wonderful and I'm going to try it.

Something I do for insomnia is count backwards from 300 by 3s. I rarely make it to 270 before I fall asleep.
