Is there a message board for women who are post menopausal and have had a hysterectomy?

Don't think so, but maybe I haven't looked enough yet!

Do you mean, by post-menopausal, anyone who has stopped having periods or anyone who has also gone through all the hormonal ups and downs that go with the whole process?

I had my last period Jan '03, had a TVH in June '04 due to prolapse and A & P repair, and am just now (Oct '04) getting into the hormone jungle.

post menopausal hyst

Well, I am 58 and have gone through the change. Still get some hot flashes now and then and probably will the rest of my life it seems. I have not had any periods for about 7-8 years, before that I had regular ones. I just didn't know if that makes a difference to how I will feel after my surgery. I am having a total vaginal hysterectomy removing everything...ovaries et al. In my dreams I feel like I will be fine and back to norm after about 4 weeks. Right now I always have abdominal pain and just do not feel right or have any energy. The Diagnosis to warrant my surgery is Prolapsed uterus, bladder, etc. Don't know if they will find anything else wrong when they get in or not. I guess I am unique because I don't have the incontinence. But I can never empty my bladder. When they did the urodynamics studies they were surprised to find how much I retain after voiding. Any one else have this experience? As for the hormone thing I thought I should be through with that but am not sure. Guess when I go the Dr. on the 28th I'll ask him. Thanks for all your help.
