lump under incision

Need a little advice ladies...TAH/ovaries,tubes, cervix also removed 3-24-11...I woke this morning with a lump about the size of a half dollar under my incision site. I have had an easy recovery compared to most I guess...little pain and no bowel problems but this has me a bit concerned. I have followed docs instructios for the most part but yesterday was in a position where I had to pick up my granddaughter. She is 3 months old and weighs about 15 lbs. Hoping I did not tear something....anyone else experiencing this?...I do have a call into my doctor but you know how slow they can be to answer...thanks in advance for any advice

Re: lump under incision

I think the best advice anyone can give you, unless they've experienced the same is for you to wait for your doctor. I have a couple of hard lumps (surgery 4/6/11) at the ends of my incision, but those appear to be scar formation, which application of heat seem to help in their hardness and discomfort. You sound like you may have something more than scar tissue going on, especially if it happened after you lifted your granddaughter. For now, avoid such lifts of weight again, take it easy, and see your MD.

Good luck to you.

Re: lump under incision

Depending on the exact location of the lump you could have given yourself a hernia. You really want to get it checked by a doctor though hernia's can be very serious. Good luck to you and I hope it is nothing.

Re: lump under incision

Just returned from the doctor and she feels this lump is scar tissue at a point where she connected some stitches and due to stitches disolving it has become a bit irritated....told me not to worry ...just keep an eye on it and let her know if it gets hot to the touch, turns red or if I have any pain beyond the tenderness I have today...and to let someone else pick up the baby next time....LOL

Re: lump under incision

Glad to hear you aren't facing a setback. Darn grandkids - so cute and cuddly and we can't even pick them up!
