Returning to work 6 weeks post op after tah

I had a TAH on Feb 4th. I have had a non complicated recovery thus far and plan to do as I have been doing until returning to work.

I have a 6 week post op on March 15th and plan to return to work on March 18th at exactly 6 weeks.
I have a desk job that allows me to sit, stand, walk around any time I need to and there are others that will help me with anything I need.

I am just a little scared knowing how tired I will be for a few weeks and don't want to let it show. Anyone have a good experience returning after 6 weeks.

(On another subject, I have always been a very busy person and always on the go. For the first 2 weeks I did not leave the house and was actually very, very nervous on the Monday that I started picking up my daughter from school. I now realize it was weird and I am fine. I have had 3 c-sections, gallbladder surger and nevery felt like I did on my first time out by myself after staying in the house for 2 weeks)

Re: Returning to work 6 weeks post op after tah

I returned to work at 5 1/2 weeks, and it was pretty hard at first. I left early my first day back. After that, I would do okay at work, but would be totally exhausted when I got home. The first week was hardest. The next week went a lot better.

There is something about going out on your own for the first time. It does feel a little weird. Just don't try to do too much at a time. When I was about three weeks post-op I drove a young friend around to do some errands. She is from a small community out of town and does not have a car. I sat in the car with a book while she took care of her business, and I was fine. But I found that if I went shopping for just a couple of personal items at the grocery store, the amount of standing and walking I did totally wiped me out and I would be exhausted for the rest of the day.

Re: Returning to work 6 weeks post op after tah

Thank you TSPiper. This makes me feel better about getting back into life and work as I used to. I will expect the exhaustion for a while after returning.

Knowing that for you the next week got better gives me a better outlook. It seems that you always read the worst. I think that sometime the best experiences are not expressed because they don't think too much about it.

In today's age there is too much information that can scare you. Set on staying positive and return to normal. I have talked to 2 friends that had their surgery before all the information was on the internet. They had no idea of all the things there were to worry about. I hate to say it but sometimes "Ignorance Is Bliss".
