Estrogel and my Grandbabies

I just started using Estrogel today and have been reading up on it. I have found information that says young children cannot come in contact with the application site. I have a 6 month grandson and a 4 month granddaughter who I see very regular. I have always been a 'hot' person and since my surgery I furnace up HUGE! Long sleeves are a problem for me. Has anyone had experience with Estrogel? Once it's dry and an hour or so has passed, can I pick up my grandbabies without having to wear a sweater?

Re: Estrogel and my Grandbabies

That is a very big concern for a lot of us who use creams and gels. We have an article that should help: Transdermal Concerns. I know one woman who applies her estrogen gel to her thigh and behind her knee because she works with children daily and estrogen gel seems to be the only thing that works for her. You could discuss that with your doctor.

Re: Estrogel and my Grandbabies

I use Estrogel, and I had concerns about transference as well. I called the drug manufacturer and the representative told me that it is ok for others to come in contact with the application site after 1 hour of applying. She said that they did a study in which 24 women applied Estrogel, and after one hour 24 women(not using hrt) leaned on the application site for 15 minutes. The 24 women not using hrt had a blood test before and after leaning on the application site, and their hormone level remained unchanged. So, she said there is no risk of transference to others after one hour. If you have any questions, they are very helpful.
