2 days post hysterectomy: Headache

Anyone else experiencing bad migraines? Surgery was on Mon. I feel crappy today 😞

Yes. I have had headaches every day since surgery. I woke up from surgery with one. Not migraines, but a headache indeed. I am now 7 days post op for full hysterectomy.

As I've heard from others, headaches are quite common after a hysterectomy. You didn't mention if you kept your ovaries, but even if you did, it's not uncommon for them to temporarily shut down, for anywhere from a few weeks to a few months, and that may be a contributing factor. To ease the migraines, avoid common triggers; that includes chocolate, red wine, aged cheese, processed meats and skipping meals. Also try supplementing your diet with magnesium; food sources include leafy greens, whole grains, nuts and seeds. Another thing that can help is supplementing your diet with riboflavin; food sources include quinoa, cremeni mushrooms, and skim milk. And if you have no issues with eating soy, then 1-2 daily servings can help with hormonal balance until your ovaries resume normal functioning. Best wishes for your continued recovery!
