"A pint's a pound the world around"

Just a little ditty to help you figure out how much something liquid weighs. 1 pint = 2 cups. Therefore, 8 cups, which is one-half gallon, equals 4 pounds. A gallon is 8 pounds.

I usually have my scale in my closet, but I got it out so I could weigh things I wanted to pick up (and also because I have lost some weight since the surgery, which is nice to see). I weighed my laptop and paper-loaded backpack separately and they came to 12 lbs, most of which my bicep can lift without a lot of abdominal help. Phew! Just under the wire.

Which is more than my doctor cleared me to lift- he told me the most was a gallon of milk. Of course I won't say that I haven't lifted more than that :-\
