panic attacks + fibroids = crazy me!!!

Hi ladies! First, let me say how much I like this site - even told my doctor about it yesterday.

Is there anybody else out there like me? I have anxiety disorder, with panic attacks...also a 14 week size uterus full of fibroids. My doctor (second year in a row) says I have three choices.
1. Have a hysterectomy
2. Take progesterone
3. Do nothing
My symptoms (liver clots, stabbing ovary pain, nausea, killer cramps, etc etc etc) mostly stay around the time of my period, so I am functional most of the time.

My concern is that taking hormones will affect my already horrible nerves and induce more panic attacks. Also I already take medication for this, how much can your body take??

So if choice #1 is put off until it absolutely has to be done, will choice #2 make me crazy???? I think I'll stick with choice #3!

Does anyone have a similar situation? How about taking progesterone for fibroids? Any comments? Thanks so much!!

panic attacks + fibroids = crazy me!!!

Hi Ebdf,

I had fibroids also so I can sympathize with having them. I had pelvic pressure 24/7, bladder incontinence, constipation and I was starting to get heavy aunt flows. My life was planned around taking care of a pair of fibroids!!

On your Dr's suggestions, I was given observation or a hyst too. I also was given a myomectomy (removal of the fibroids only) as an option. I decided to not do it since I was past child bearing years for me ( 46 ) and my Dr. advisd me that my fibroids might grow back since I had fast growing fibroids.

In your profile, I did not see your age or if you had children?? Possibly a myomectomy would be something to discuss with your Dr.?? My sister had a myomectomy a few years ago before she had children and it was a very successful surgery for her. She is now 44 and her fibroids have not returned.

Best wishes,

Mary

I have panic attacks as well. I also had fibroids, Progesterone did not work for me. If made me crazy. My GYN still swears that "it had nothing to do with anything" , but I know my body. Everything works differently for everyone. So I may be a great option for you. If you give it a try listen to your body. nobody knows it better then you.
