discharge questions?
i have had an uneventful recovery, some discomfort when going to the washroom, some discharge....(10 days post-op) now when i went to the washroom it seemed like i was dripping a reddish watery (very) discharge. i assumed the discharge was always from where a period would come from but this seemed more like where you urinate from? i am confused, which is it and has anyone had a bladder problem that needed to be looked at by the dr? what are the symptoms of ut infection?
thanks for any insight

Re: discharge questions?
Hi tpood
I see it's been a couple of days since you posted this- how are you doing? Is this still occurring?
You're correct that the discharge should come from the vagina and not your urethra, which would indicate a problem with your bladder. If you're still having the watery discharge you might need to be checked for a fistula. That's the only possibility that comes to mind anyway. I didn't see you mention this again in your other posts so I hope it cleared right up for you and isn't continuing.
In case you didn't get this information yet, the symptoms for a UTI are usually urgency and pain when you urinate. I have read where for some it's possible to have one and not have these classic symptoms. If you're still having problems it would probably be wise to see your dr and get this checked out.
I saw where you were having a fever. I hope that's better. Let us know what's happening with this. Take care of yourself, rest, keep drinking your water and I hope things will smooth out for you soon.

Re: discharge questions?
I am 5 days post-op and am also having a lot of watery discharge, particularly when I stand and move around. I feel like a leaky faucet! If it doesn't stop, I will call the doctor on Monday. The idea of a fistula makes sense, but am hoping it is not. None of us needs complications!

Re: discharge questions?
precious pearl-
hi i went to the dr and he took a sample directly from the bladder so it would not be influenced by any discharge- it was clear, no smell and he did a quick test to rule out anything else brewing in the office- he said it all looked good. so i guess it was just the stitches disolving and tissues healing etc. it is week 6 and i have finally stopped the discharge and smell.
thanks for asking!

(((tpood)))
Thanks for checking back. I'm so glad to hear you had a good report and this has all cleared up with no further problems. It's also really nice for others to be able to see that this was your experience and it turned out ok.
It looks like you are about ready to get back into life again. Remember to continue to listen to your body and rest if you need to. It's important to get back into your regular routine gradually as you're ready. I hope it all continues to go well.

Re: discharge questions?
Had the same discharge. Dr. told me it was from the top of the vaginal cuff where the stitches are dissolving and the pooled blood is now leaking. Nothing to worry about he said.
As long as i wasnt soaking a pad, or having to change a pad more than once in an hour, it should stop within a few days. And it did.
