Emotions and scared

Hello ladies.
My TAH is set for 7/16/2013 and I am wondering.... Will I have worse PMS symptoms, same or less? As of this moment I will be keeping one ovary for sure but everything else-- gone.
I am happy, nervous, scared and excited. Which I am sure are all normal..... BUT.... my biggest emotional "issue" is will I feel "empty' inside? I do not want any more children so I am ok with this but is my brain going to cooperate?
My DH is getting a lot of things in place already for me...thank God.... I don't think i could do this without him.
I had a tummy tuck surgery in 2005 and recovered ALONE so I am praying this will be much smoother.
Any advice?
Thank you and God Bless!

Re: Emotions and scared

Hi there, if you keep one or both ovaries then i think there will always be the chance of PMS as its the hormones released by your ovaries that can send you loopy each month. However, i can't see that anything is written in stone and i have read that some ladies do experience a significant decrease in their PMS symptoms after a hyster (and having kept their ovaries).

Wishing you much luck for 16th July.

Re: Emotions and scared

Hi Pink_Princess to HysterSisters!

I am sorry you have to have a hysterectomy, but glad you found this site.

Your emotional is very normal. This is one tough surgery to digest. And the unknowns of what you will feel like after surgery is hard. Everyone is different after surgery, and how you feel will be dependent on many and unpredictable things. Sometimes there can be much emotional turmoil after surgery. But just know that you are not alone... not now and not after surgery! We are here to help you, and will be by your side throughout this.
