Anyone else? Weight change after hyst??

The thread below got me to thinking- is it common to gain or lose weight after a hysterectomy? Should I be expecting one or the other?

I know for me my eating is definitely hormonal-- I can be either eating everything in sight or have no appetite at all-- just depends on what part of the cycle I'm in. I have gained a good 15 lbs. or so since my endo got really bad 2-3 years ago. Am I deluded in hoping that things might settle down and that extra weight drop off after surgery? *pig* ???

I have lost about 9 lbs. after surgery, but of course all of these effected organs must weigh something. I do not have much of an appetitie and for some reason food just doesn't taste good so I am eating to live instead of living to eat! I am hoping that since I no longer have to take continous doses of birth control pills to control my endo that some of the weight that they caused me to gain, I will now be able to lose. Only time will tell!!

I dont know how common it is to lose weight after a hyst, but my mom had one 16 yrs ago and lost 25 lbs after. I hope I will be at least that lucky. I have about 90 to lose and 25 would be a big head start. A thyroid med that works would be a good thing too though. (But so would me eating less junk...LOL)
