Sorry way to much but im getting scared i talked to the office today they told me what to do. I don't want to take more pain pills but i think I'm going to have to due to i feel like i just gave birth in that area. Just a feeling of being hit with a bat.has anyone else had this problem will it pass. I'm not bleeding but i do feel like a burn inside. Thank you ladies

Re: beginning to panic

Well I had a different type of hysterectomy on the 22nd. But for the first week after I was very constipateddespite the stool softners that my doctor prescribed after the surgery. So in addition, teice I had to use the saline based enemas you can buy over the counter. My doctor said it was safe. I found both times that once I got the initial piece out that it was very hard, and then I went very easily for a day or two with everything that was behind it. If you have someone that can make a trip to the pharmacy for you, you might want to give them a try. They are made by Fleet brand, and you should make sure you get the one that say easy sqeeze bottle.

Re: beginning to panic

I have dealt with horrible constipation the past week. Milk of Magnesia didn't even help, and when I finally went, it was like giving birth to an acorn squash!!! Ug, gross I know...sorry!

Doc told me to drink one glass of juice then one glass of water along with the stool softener twice daily and to make sure I am drinking at least 10 glasses of liquid and 5 servings of fruit each day. He also told me to give myself time on the potty to go...basically to wait 10 minutes before I decided I didn't need to defecate. It has really helped. I still take Percocet each evening, but I am having one bowl movement a day.

Re: beginning to panic

I started taking stool softeners the afternoon I got home from the hospital and I am still taking them post-op 8 days. I had my first post-op appointment with my doc today and he said it was fine to keep taking them, since my bladder is still sore and my bm's are also just a bit uncomfortable (not painful, just very unconfortable). It has made my recovery easier. Good luck...

Re: beginning to panic

My saving grace in this department is a tea called Smooth Move at GNC. What brand of stool softener do you use?

Re: beginning to panic

This link to our post-op constipation articles might help. The first time for me, my doctor had prescribed a suppository and then I used 2 cups of prune juice at once after that to keep things going. Read the articles and see if you can find something that will work for you.

Re: beginning to panic

I drink "Smooth Move" tea...available at CVS or Walgreens (I'm sure any drug store) and it really helps! You determine the "steep" time, the longer you let the tea bag steep, the stronger it is. Hope it helps you!

Re: beginning to panic

Coffee always helps me and if you do drink coffee, consider adding a little coconut oil to it. Only about a teaspoon and work up as it can cause nausea feelings - but it will also cause you to go.

I also ate a few prunes and had my first BM at Day 3 and haven't had any troubles since.

Hope any of the suggestions you've received works for you!

Re: beginning to panic

Oh yes, I agree with Minty Me also. In addition to the things I posted previously I also drink a cup of coffee occasionally to help me go, but I am not a regular coffee drinker either.

My first was like that too. I thought I was going to pass out. Once the first one was over with it's all been pretty easy going.
